Winter Day Hikes 2012

***All day hikes cost $12.00 per person without rental or $20.00 per person with rental included.  All day hikes start at 10am and go to approximately 3pm.*** 

Copeland Forest & Horseshoe Valley

Easy-Moderate-Casual Pace 7-10km

A beautiful and casual hike through hardwood and cedar forest to enjoy lunch beside a small frozen pond.  There may be the occasional sighting of a dog sled team or two that are training in the forest  - it's a great hike so close to home!

Sunday, February 12th

Awenda Provincial Park - Penetang

Moderate Difficulty-Casual Pace 7-10km

Hike along and down the bluffs to the winter beaches with a view of Giant's Tomb and Christian Island.  Wander through the hardwood forest in its' winter splendor down to picturesque Kettle Lake  - two chances to catch this great hike!

Saturday, February 18th

Pretty River Valley

Moderate Difficulty-Moderate Pace 10km

A popular hiking and mountain biking area in the summer at the edge of Collingwood.  The area offers a wonderful view while meandering on a hike through the forest high atop the stunning Niagara Escarpment.

Sunday, February 26th

McCrae Lake Provincial Nature Reserve

Moderate-Advanced Steady Pace 10km

Hike over the rugged Canadian shield and stand on top of 100 foot cliffs over looking McCrae Lake.  Wander up and down the hills and through dense mixed forest.  A hike suitable for the true adventure and those up for a winter challenge!

Sunday, February 5th

Algonquin Park

Moderate-Advanced Steady Pace 10-12km

A lengthy hike through rolling wooded terrain and along the shores of a frozen lake.  You may see signs of moose activity in the snow or perhaps even see a live one.  the scenery on this hike is gorgeous.  This is a full day and the terrain can be challenging. Extra cost: park pass per car required.

Wednesday Night Hikes!

Moderate Steady pace

Every Wednesday from January 4th - March 7th hike through the hills of Copeland Forest on a winding route in beautiful Horseshoe Valley.  This weekly adventure is the perfect break in the work week so bring your family, friends or colleagues!

All evening hikes are $8.00 per person without rental or $15.00 per person with rental included. Evening hikes start at 7pm and last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Pre-Registration is required.  All trips and courses are open to adults and children over 14 years of age if accompanied by an adult.
